Dermatology

Skin and fur problems are common among animals and pets in particular. Various skin lesions and diseases cause discomfort and even great suffering to the animal, affecting its quality of life (itching, pain, secondary infections) and that of its owners (excessive hair loss and bad smell). When we come to diagnose a skin problem, we refer to the season, age, race, diet and living environment, the presence of other animals in the house and of what type, general diseases in the background and more. All this in order to arrive at an accurate diagnosis of the problem and the adjustment of the most suitable treatment. The physical examination includes a general medical examination and then a detailed reference to the skin, fur and ears which are an integral part of the skin system in animals.

In addition toFor the detailed question and the physical examination, we have at our disposal all the necessary diagnostic tools such as: scrapings and skin surfaces examined under a microscope, cultures, general and hormonal blood tests, as well as external laboratory tests if necessary. The treatment, depending on the problem, ranges from local treatment (ointments, medical shampoo, prophylactic preparations against external parasites) to treatment withStemi (medications given by injection and orally).

In many cases and especially in allergic diseases, an integral part of the treatment is the replacement of the diet with medical food.
